Looking back, we can see that 2020 was a highly unusual year.
But, despite having to cancel its Provincials and Nationals 2020 competitions, Skills Canada BC still managed to host nearly 5,000 competitors into its Regional competitions.
Then, once the lockdowns began mid-March 2020, Skills Canada BC began launching “Online Challenges” and transitioned its “Inspire Program” into an Open Source Learning Portal that students and educators could access remotely. Both programs have been highly successful in terms of helping students in the province continue to learn about careers in the Skilled Trades and Technology sectors.
Skills Canada BC’s “Online Challenges” are now incorporating “Essential Skills” and pieces of related competition scope documents so that students can continue to develop valuable skills that will help them throughout their lives.
