Women in Trades at the Skills Canada BC Peace Regionals

In partnership with Skills Canada BC and the Peace Regionals Trades and Technology Competitions, Skilled Trades BC Apprenticeship Advisor Chelsea Neis, facilitated a Women in Trades workshop on February 16 in Dawson Creek at Northern Lights College.

Approximately 60 Grade 9 students from Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd had the opportunity to participate in this event.

Students were able to learn about trades career opportunities by meeting with female tradespersons, hearing their stories and participating in a hands on workshop.

Other partners included the BC Construction Association.

Chelsea said the girls’ had a lot of fun and everyone left the event with a few more tools for their tool belt!

All in all, it was an exciting informative day!
