2021 JrRobotics Coding(Sec) – Vancouver Island North

Registration Information: This registration will allow competitors to complete levels A-E of Robot Mesh program.  Winners at the Regional Level will be asked to register for JrSkills Robotic Provincial Competition in which they will compete on Level F. Skills BC will pay for all Robot Mesh Registration fees, supply regional medals and we have ordered a 2021 Neck Buff for all competitors. PURPOSE OF THE CONTEST:

To provide competitors with the opportunity to demonstrate their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through practical and theoretical application and to enhance these skills through hands-on, student-centered learning.

The Challenge
Students will compete in a coding challenge (online) using the online software platform Robot Mesh Studio. The coding language used will be Blockly (‘Scratch’ as previously known). There will be 4 to 6 challenges to be completed by each competitor. Each challenge will be timed and scored. Students will follow specific instructions directed by the online virtual system to create a set of codes to operate a virtual robot to perform various tasks.
