Abbotsford, BC: January 31, 2020 – Skills Canada BC is pleased to announce it will host its 26th Annual Provincial competition at the Tradex, in Abbotsford, April 15, 2020. “Skills Canada BC’s 26th Annual Provincial competition will be our biggest and best in the organization’s
history,” says John Haller, President of Skills Canada BC.
“This year Skills Canada BC is expecting more than 600 secondary and post-secondary competitors from around the province to compete amid a backdrop of thousands of student spectators. We’re planning many special activities including – Mentoring Opportunities for Young Women, an Indigenous Showcase and Special Alumni Activities for 2020 that you won’t want to miss.”
“These competitions serve two main purposes. First, they celebrate and reward students for excellence in their mastery of a skilled trade or technology sector in a manner that directly involves industry and labour who assist in evaluating student performance. This keeps training relevant to employers’ needs.” “Second, Skills Canada BC competitions create interactive and engaging environments to expose tens of thousands of young people to potential skilled trade and technology careers who annually attend the competitions as spectators.”
