WHAT IS SKILLS FOR SUCCESS?

In October 2022, Skills Canada launched an interactive online website for students to develop skills needed to equip them to meet the typical skill demands of their future jobs.

The website offers 9 interactive workbooks, each with questions, boosters, and answer keys that students work on fundamental skills such as reading, writing, and problem solving.

WHY FOCUS GROUPS WITH TEACHERS?

Given that the website only has a student dashboard to track workbook progress and questions completed, the website only caters to students.

A key part to making this online platform successful is the participation of teachers, in addition to students.

Teachers can include the workbooks as part of their classroom curriculum and encourage their use.

It has been suggested that a dashboard on the website, specifically dedicated to teachers would be useful.

This dashboard would allow for a sign up/login system, creation of student accounts, and management of the student progress along with questions they have on workbooks.

We are seeking input from teachers/educators by conducting virtual focus groups to show the current tool, followed by sharing rough wireframes that would explain additional features catered to teachers. Teachers would share their feedback and any new ideas that might come to mind.

Each focus group meeting will be a virtual one hour session.

Teachers can choose an hour within the range that works best for them between 7am to 4pm PST within the following dates below.

It will work best for teachers to send as many dates and times as possible that work for them. Groups will be created based on the dates that are sent.
